As part of the e2Mars team I had the opportunity to work on Medical Illustration projects. This is an area of work that I am deeply interested mainly because of its complexity and the challenge that brings with it. Unlike other assignments, Medical Illustration is a service that needs patience. At times the client would provide us with a reference and we just need to recreate the illustration in a vector based software; so that the client can scale it and use it for various mediums (Web, Print, eLearning, etc.). But at times, we need to talk to the client and understand the concept and come up with an illustration that conveys the message.
This specific assignment was done for Dr. Piero, a practicing Dentist and an International Speaker & Author. Dr. Piero has been practicing dentistry in Holland, mi since 1982. Born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, Piero received his degree from the University of Detroit, Mercy School of Dentistry. A life-long problem solver, he has developed and implemented a chair side air evacuation system and a disinfectant infusion system for his operatory water lines. He is the inventor of Dental Air Force® and the CEO of Air Force Inc. He holds twelve patents worldwide.
Dr. Piero wanted to explain Arterial Inflammation of gums in a pictorial format that would be easy to understand. He wanted to make a graphical illustration that would explain the various stages of this inflammation and what it could lead to. In the first step we recreated an illustration using the reference image and in the second step we came out with a different approach that explained the stages with more clarity. This assignment was well accepted by the client and our team at WE3LABS were glad that we could make the client happy.
